Our Story

From Digital Frames to Golden Grains.
A Legacy Rooted in Thrissur
The story of WOCA isn’t just about a brand; it is a continuation of a lineage that lives within the walls of Vadakkepurakkal House in Orumanayur, Chavakkad. For generations, our family has been defined by the scent of seasoned wood and the steady rhythm of the chisel.
It began with Ramu, my grandfather, a master who understood the silent language of timber. This legacy of excellence was carried forward by my father, Gopalakrishnan, a great craftsman whose hands could breathe life into raw planks. Alongside my mother, Geetha, they taught me that true quality isn’t just about the finished product—it’s about the patience and honesty put into the process.
The Editor’s Eye
Before returning to the chisel, Likesh spent 17 years mastering a different kind of craft: visual storytelling. His career began with six years at local channel cctv, kunnamkulam, where he learned the high-stakes discipline of broadcast editing. Later, he co-founded a creative studio with his friends Sajan Antony and Gisto Jose, spending over a decade perfecting the art of digital precision. This “Editor’s Eye”—the ability to see the perfect frame and the smallest detail—is the secret ingredient that ensures every WOCA product is mathematically balanced and aesthetically flawless.

The 2020 Awakening
In 2020, as the global lockdown shifted the world’s pace, Likesh returned to the quiet of Vadakkepurakkal House. While his professional studio remained active, the time spent at home sparked a meaningful “timepass”—experimenting with the seasoned Jackwood from his backyard.
Using the vintage tools of his father and grandfather, he began to “edit” wood with the same precision he applied to a digital timeline. What started as a hobby soon revealed a deeper purpose. For five years, Likesh balanced his 17-year media career with this growing passion, until the vision for WOCA became his primary focus. In 2025, he made the pivotal decision to close his studio to fully commit to the WOCA legacy.
I grew up to the rhythm of my father’s chisel, learning that wood isn’t just a material—it’s a legacy. WOCA is my return to those roots, bringing the honesty of a traditional Thrissur workshop into the modern home.

The 80-Year Legacy: A Testament to Jackwood
“Before the era of power tools and mass production, there was the steady hand of Ramu, my grandfather. This Jackwood trunk, crafted over 80 years ago at our family home in Orumanayur, stands today as the silent foundation of WOCA.”
Genesis: Piece 001
I grew up watching my father and grandfather transform timber into art. In 2020, with this first creation, I finally picked up their tools and added my own chapter to our family’s story. This piece was the first frame in a new story—one where nature is the medium and heritage is the guide.”
